About Us
Pamela Wright, violin
Pamela started playing violin in the 4th grade and continued on through college. She also played in All-State
Orchestras, went to competitions and played in two youth Orchestras: the Wichita Youth Symphony and the
Portland Youth Philharmonic. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from George Fox College. She has been
teaching  violin on and off for the last 25 years, and had been playing in string quartets for 8 years in the
Portland area, and playing with the Singing Christmas Tree for three years before moving to Orcas Island in
2001. Pamela now teaches private lessons in her home, and is the elementary school music teacher, as well as
pursuing her master's degree in Seattle two days a week!
Teresa Chocano, viola
Teresa started playing the violin in 7th grade and the next year she switched to the viola. She
continued to play on through college, where she was a music major in early Renaissance and
enjoyed playing in chamber groups, and going to music camps and All-State orchestras. After
college she moved to San Francisco where she played in the San Francisco Community
Orchestra that performed for many events. She also played rock and roll with a couple of
bands and some jazz violin with some other groups. She took a hiatus for a few years, while
raising her two children. Once Teresa moved to Orcas, and her daughter wanted to study cello,
she started playing again in the Islands' Sinfonia (where she, Pamela, and Holly met) and with
other ensembles. She has lived on Orcas for 15 years.
Holly King, cello:
Holly began playing the cello in 4th grade, because all the violin spots had already been taken. She continued to
study the cello  in Jr. High and High School, and enjoyed playing in local and regional competitions and orchestras.
Although she did not play for several years after college, she faithfully brought her cello with her to Orcas in
1996. It was fall of that year that the director of a community theatre production asked her to play during a
performance, and the rest is history. She played with the Islands' Sinfonia for four years, and has been performing
at local concerts, with the Choral Society, and at weddings for the past 1
3 years.
